5 Spring Cleaning Checklist Tips
Spring is here and so to are some annual chores that come along with caring for a home. Not sure what I mean? I’ve outlined the top 5 spring cleaning checklist items you should be checking off your list over the next couple of months.
1. Vacuum + Shampoo All Rugs and Couch Cushions
Living in the midwest, all I think about is how much salt, sand and grime we track into our homes thanks to our long winters. Our pets unapologetically help increase the foot traffic as well. A lot of debris can build up over time, so one of the first things I like to do on my spring cleaning checklist is clean my rugs and couch cushions. It creates a sense of freshness in the high foot traffic areas of my home.
2. Clean Out Your Fridge + Pantry + Kitchen Cabinets
The kitchen is the heart of your home. By giving it a face lift through organizing and cleaning, it’ll leave you feeling great! Take time to toss out expired food, wipe down the fridge shelves, organize your food storage containers, and vacuum any crumbs + spices that may have crept into drawers or cabinets.
3. Donate Donate Donate
Go through each of your closets and cabinets, one at a time. Think clothing, bathrooms, linens, office drawers…you name it. If you run across expired medicines or makeup, or items that you haven’t used in years, it’s time to purge! By removing the clutter, you can create space in your home which feels oh so good. You might even come across a treasure that you’ve been missing, so have fun with it!
4. Wash Windows + Window Screens
After all of the pollen has made its way off the trees and plants in your yard, it’s a great idea to get your windows and window screens cleaned. This will help brighten your home with more natural lighting, and will provide fresher air when it’s open window season!
5. Clean Out Your Sewer Line
As trees and plants continue to grow during the early months of spring, so do their roots. It’s always a good idea to have your sewer line cleaned every couple of years to ensure you don’t have any unwanted sewer backup accidents in your basement. You can research companies by typing in “main sewer line scope and cleaning”. That should help get you started!
