The 5 Best 2022 Paint Color Trends
One of my favorite past times is to slowly analyze the new home industry trends heading into each year. It’s amazing to watch my professional world around me shift and adjust as homeowners are trying to stay on top of design trends as they buy, sell, and renovate their homes.
In my opinion, one of the biggest factors in ensuring your home is on trend (if that’s something you care about) is paint colors! It’s also one of the easiest updates you can make to a home to make a statement without breaking the bank. By switching up your paint color, you adjust things such as the light reflection, mood of a room, and breathe new life into your home!
2022 vs. 2021 Paint Color Trends
You may be surprised to see a bit of a shift this year when it comes to paint color trends. If you remember at the start of 2021 we were seeing quite a few designers lean towards moody hues. These were being used mainly in secondary rooms vs. throughout an entire house, but they were giving a space a playful twist outside of the norm.
The best way I can describe 2022’s color choices is that it feels like much more of a softened simplicity. I’m seeing less statement colors, and more simplistic, functional color palettes that lean towards neutrals. Most importantly, they’ve all got one word in common...GREEN! Your girl’s favorite! Whether they’re flat out green or have green undertones, green is the definite paint trend of 2022.
Below are the specifics on the top paint colors of 2022. Which is your favorite?
Drop Cloth | Farrow & Ball
October Mist | Benjamin Moore
Evergreen Fog | Sherwin Williams
Moody Favorites
If you’re still in love with more of the dark accents that we’ve been seeing pick up popularity over the last couple years, you’re not alone. Although 2022 is lightening things up a bit, by no means are deep, moody hues making an exit. Below are some of the top contenders that are being seen across doors, kitchen cabinets, trim, and more!
Racoon Fur | Benjamin Moore
Iron Ore | Sherwin Williams
Happy painting!
