I’ve outlined my top 5 projects that I help clients tackle to get their homes ready to sell. These updates take minimal skill, money and time, and can go a long way. Whether you’re looking to impress future buyers, or family members for the holidays, these updates are sure to make a big impact without breaking the bank!
You might not enjoy some of the minor tedious work, but I’m sure it will put a grin on your face of pride and joy when it’s all said and done. So get after it! You’ve got nothing but time this winter!
1
Paint
Updating paint to neutral tones such as light grays and whites is one of the easiest ways to elevate your home experience. Light paint colors help reflect sunlight which will give the illusion of your rooms feeling larger and brighter, and who doesn’t need a little more vitamin D in the winter time?
2
Hardware
Hardware is an inexpensive way to "class up" the money makers of your home, the kitchen and bathrooms! By updating your pulls throughout your cabinets and drawers, you can give a fresh, updated appearance to any room! And don’t be scared of mixing metals! The faucet, appliances, lighting and hardware don’t all need to match. Contrast is in!

Backsplash
Updated backsplash can be done in 3 easy steps across a couple of days, and ANYONE can do it! It's easy, quick (outside of dry time) and pretty painless on the pocketbook. If you’re nervous about applying grout or any other steps in the process, you’re in luck! I included a few of my favorite peel and stick tile options as well!
4
Curb Appeal
In 2020, outdoor entertaining became more important than ever! Individuals and families want a change of scenery from the inside of their four walls, and value landscaped, manicured yards more than ever. Paver patios are a big selling feature this year and are even more fun for home owners to enjoy for themselves. If you’re located in the east, west or south, you can still take advantage of some outdoor updates that can help your house shine. Sorry midwesterners, snow will be putting a little delay on your exterior activities, so put this one on hold until 2021.
5
Lighting
If you have a home that checks all the boxes for size, layout, neighborhood, etc. and the finishes aren't quite there, a buyer might start seeing dollar signs of projects they would have to take on to update the home to their liking. Well, lighting is an easy and affordable way to redirect that thought process. By swapping out a few ceiling lights or wall sconces, you can elevate the presence of any home!
